In its own information management, the Government should encourage progress towards an information society and, when necessary, create operating models and standards that can be copied elsewhere. In new development projects, one requirement should be that the technology and contents of the systems in the Government administration are compatible. In the long run, the aim should be to cut costs through harmonization and use the savings for the overall development of the information society.
