Networked Business and Government - Something Real for the Lisbon StrategyVenue: House of the Estates (Helsinki, Finland) On 23-24th October 2006, Finland was the venue of an information society conference organised as a part of the official programme of Finland’s EU Presidency. The seminar focused on finding concrete means to achieve the objectives set by the Lisbon Strategy. The conference focused on cooperation between public and private sectors, digitalisation of business, enhancing productivity and information society development in public administration. In connection with the two-day conference, Finland hosted a preliminary seminar related to the launch of a ‘European Network of Living Labs: A Step Towards a European Innovation System’. The conference was targeted to public sector leaders, research and corporate management and other experts in EU countries. The conference was organised in cooperation with the Finnish Government Information Society Programme, the Center for Knowledge and Innovation Research (CKIR) of the Helsinki School of Economics, the European Commission and several enterprises. Participation was by invitation only. The conference was held in English. The Helsinki Manifesto The Conference identified the potential domains where there already is a high readiness to boost European productivity and innovativeness for growth and job creation within the frame of the Lisbon Strategy, the i2010 policy and the European Program for Competitiveness and Innovation (CIP).
